Development of a Test Bed for Measurement of Marine Diesel Engine Exhaust Silencer Performance

A test bed for the performance study of marine diesel engine exhaust silencers was designed and built.Two high pressure centrifugal fans were used in series to generate wind.The combustor of an aero-turbine served as a burning gas generator.Temperature and flow of the exhaust gas were controlled by two types of control systems.One was automatic,and the other was manual.The experimental results show that the test bed can meet the experiments’ needs of the exhaust silencers of engines under 2 000 kW.The gas volumetric flow range is 0~8 m~(3)/s,and the temperature range is 20 ℃~600 ℃
