Cindere dam – 107m high Roller Compacted Hardfill Dam (RCHD) in Turkey

This paper presents the site conditions, design consideration，proposed construction methods,  galleries, upstream facing system, stability analysis, mix design, instumeotation of 107 m bigh Ciodere Dam, as an example of Hardfill(Lowcementitoous content RCC) dams. Original dam design was earthfill dam withcentral clay core on the same axis. After the technical-economica1 comparison， hardfill dam type has been found most economical dam type. The dam was constructed on a schist foundation.

As it is already known, three dams have been constructed throughout tbe world with this methodology with this type，which are Marathia and Ano Mera darns in Greece and Moncioo Dam in Dominique Republic.
