Preparation of Waterborne Epoxy-Acrylic Resin

Epoxy resin is grafted chemically onto the acrylic copolymer to form a self-emulsified resin,which is partly crosslinked and able to be dispersed in water.The influences of amount of catalyst, relative molecular weight of polyethylene glycol and epoxy resin,and their ratios in polymer matrix on the crosslinking density of the formed resin and film density were discussed. When using higher amount of catalyst,lower molecular chain polyethylene glycol and proper epoxy amount, an excellent resin,which shows excellent alkali and salt spray resistance,can be prepared.
