Design of high power CAM engine for lightweight underwater vehicle

A new design of CAM engine was proposed to meet the power needs of a lightweight underwater vehicle.The structure and parameters of the main components in CAM engine,i.e.,CAM,cylinder,and valve mechanism,were determined.The simulation results of the working process have demostrated that the new engine axail power reaches 114.9 kW and is improved about 60 kW compared to a MK46 torpedo CAM engine with two lift and five cylinders.The design of this proposed new engine is feasible and can guide further mechanical analysis and simulation.
