With the increasing serious problems of environment and resource, the technology of Hybrid electric vehicles develops rapidly. There still many shortages of parallel or parallel-series HEV even though they have successfully occupied the market, such as a little more mechanical connections like satellite gear, and large size etc. In order to reduce mechanical connections and increase the fuel economy and vehicle performance, a novel electrical machine—Permanent Dual Mechanical Port Machine (PDMPM), has a good prospect of application in HEV.The PDMPM has dual mechanical ports and dual electric ports, and subsequently it’s design, analysis and control become more complicated compared to traditional alternating current permanent magnet synchronous machines.
